Roster deadline live board: what is confirmed with less than three hours to go

Buffalo and Pittsburgh have already announced multiple releases, while the league-wide 53-player deadline remains set for 6 p.m. ET. Here is the verified movement—and what fans should not assume yet.

CONFIRMED REPORTING

The NFL roster deadline has entered its final afternoon, but the safest board is still the official one.

NFL Football Operations sets 6 p.m. ET Sunday as the deadline for clubs to reduce their Active/Inactive lists to 53 players. The league's official team-by-team tracker remains the central index for announced and reported cuts, while individual club transaction pages provide the primary confirmation for each team.

Buffalo announced 13 releases Saturday. The group included wide receivers Mecole Hardman Jr., Dante Pettis and Quentin Skinner, along with offensive linemen Bruno Fina and Sincere Haynesworth. Those moves are official. They do not, by themselves, confirm every player who will occupy the Bills' initial 53.

Pittsburgh's official transaction log shows two waves of movement: 11 releases Friday, followed Saturday by the releases of linebacker Jamin Davis and wide receiver Levi Wentz. As with Buffalo, the published transactions narrow the competition without making an unannounced final roster official.

WHAT REMAINS OPEN

The unresolved questions are now more important than the raw cut count.

First, teams can continue to trade, waive, release or move eligible players to reserve lists before the deadline. A position group that appears complete at 3 p.m. can look different at 6 p.m.

Second, Sunday's initial 53 is not guaranteed to survive Monday unchanged. Waiver claims on players released during final reductions expire at 4 p.m. ET Monday. A successful claim forces the acquiring club to create a roster place, producing another move.

Third, a release is not the same as a completed practice-squad agreement. Until a club announces that agreement after the waiver window, the player should not be displayed as organizational depth.

FOURTHWIRE ANALYSIS

For fans and fantasy managers, the cleanest signal is a change in access to snaps.

A recognizable reserve receiver leaving a crowded room may not materially change the projected offense. A move involving the primary returner, a pass-protection specialist, a swing tackle or the direct backup to an injured starter can matter immediately. FourthWire will update projections only when a confirmed transaction changes an expected role, not simply because a cut list becomes longer.

The final three-hour checklist:

  • Use club transaction pages to confirm individual moves.
  • Treat unofficial final-roster graphics as projections until the team announces them.
  • Watch reserve designations because they can create short-term Week 1 openings.
  • Recheck the board after Monday's waiver deadline.

NEXT UPDATE

FourthWire will publish a post-deadline read after clubs complete their initial reductions. That update will focus on confirmed vacancies, waiver exposure and the depth-chart changes with real Week 1 consequences.
