CONFIRMED REPORTING

The NFL and Nike unveiled eight new Rivalries uniforms Tuesday for every team in the NFC North and AFC South. Each design is assigned to one home game against a division opponent during the 2026 regular season.

The league's official calendar lists the new-team debuts as Houston at Indianapolis in Week 3, Chicago at Green Bay in Week 5, Minnesota at Detroit and Indianapolis at Jacksonville in Week 8, Jacksonville at Tennessee in Week 10, Indianapolis at Houston in Week 11, Detroit at Minnesota in Week 15 and Green Bay at Chicago in Week 16.

The NFL also said the Rams–Seahawks Week 16 matchup will become the program's first game in which both clubs wear their Rivalries designs. Los Angeles and Seattle were part of the 2025 launch group, along with the rest of the NFC West and AFC East.

According to the league announcement, a team's Rivalries design joins its uniform rotation for three years after its debut. Fan merchandise is scheduled to go on sale Sept. 1 through league, Nike, Fanatics, team and selected retail channels. The NFL described the 2025 launch as Fanatics' best-selling merchandise release to date; that is a league-provided commercial claim, not independently audited sales data supplied to FourthWire.

Green Bay separately confirmed that its Week 5 home game against Chicago is scheduled for Oct. 11 at 3:25 p.m. CT on FOX. Houston's official game-theme guide identifies its Week 11 home date against Indianapolis as the Texans' Rivalries debut.

FOURTHWIRE ANALYSIS

  • The product is the date, not only the uniform

Assigning each design to one division game turns a merchandise launch into an appointment. Reveal content drives the first conversation; the scheduled debut creates a second marketing window around tickets, broadcasts, social content and in-stadium presentation. The three-year rotation extends the asset beyond a single campaign.

  • Divisional structure makes the story easy to understand

The 2026 rollout covers two complete divisions rather than a scattered set of clubs. That gives fans a simple frame and lets each design respond to a shared rivalry while remaining locally specific. It also creates natural comparison across eight team identities without requiring an artificial tournament.

  • The dual-uniform game is the next format test

The Rams–Seahawks Week 16 designation matters because both sides of one matchup will carry the program. If the presentation remains visually clear for players, officials, viewers and broadcasters, dual-Rivalries games could become a repeatable tentpole. The league has not announced a broader dual-uniform expansion, so that remains a possibility—not a confirmed plan.

  • Local storytelling is the competitive advantage

The official campaign connects the designs to team communities, history and local culture. Green Bay highlights public ownership; Houston has framed its game around city identity. That approach can produce stronger affinity than a league-wide visual template because fans are invited to recognize their own place in the design story.

  • Commercial claims need context

“Best-selling release” signals demand, but it does not disclose units, revenue, comparison periods, margins or team-by-team performance. FourthWire will treat the statement as a reported league claim until comparable commercial data is available.
