Kyle Van Noy joins Minnesota’s practice squad. His Week 1 value begins with options, not assumptions.
The Vikings added a 35-year-old pass rusher with 23.5 sacks over the past three seasons, but practice-squad status is not the same as an announced game-day role.

Story
Minnesota added veteran outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy to its practice squad Wednesday, giving the Vikings an experienced pass-rush option without announcing an immediate place in the starting lineup.
The team also signed running back DeeJay Dallas and brought back quarterback Max Brosmer and receiver Dillon Bell. Minnesota waived center Gavin Gerhardt, offensive lineman Tristan Leigh, outside linebacker Cam’Ron Stewart and guard Joshua Gray in corresponding moves.
Van Noy, 35, spent the previous three seasons with Baltimore. Minnesota’s official announcement credits him with 23.5 sacks and 39 quarterback hits across that span, including career highs of 12.5 sacks and 21 hits in 2024.
CONFIRMED ROLE
Van Noy is on the practice squad. The Vikings have not announced that he will be elevated for Week 1 or described a snap target. Those decisions should be reported only when the club makes them.
FOURTHWIRE ANALYSIS: WHAT THE SIGNING CHANGES
The move gives Minnesota three kinds of flexibility: a veteran who understands situational pass rushing, insurance if availability changes and a practice player capable of giving the offense experienced edge work. It also lets the staff evaluate conditioning and scheme fit without immediately reshaping the active 53.
The practical indicators are elevation status, game-day availability and usage by situation. A recognizable name alone is not a projection.
