Jaxson Dart's knee evaluation is still ongoing. What the Giants can—and cannot—say now
New York has not announced a diagnosis or a timetable after its quarterback left Monday night's loss to the Rams. That makes the next official update more useful than any projected recovery window.

Story
Confirmed reporting
The New York Giants said Tuesday that quarterback Jaxson Dart's knee evaluation is still ongoing and that no final decision has been made. Coach John Harbaugh said the club would announce a direction once its medical and football staff had reached one.
Dart was injured on the opening drive of the Giants' 28–6 Monday-night loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He completed three of five passes for 20 yards before leaving the game. Veteran backup Jameis Winston finished the game.
That is the complete official status as of this update: an ongoing evaluation, no announced diagnosis and no announced return timetable. The Giants' next game is against the Tennessee Titans at MetLife Stadium on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
What has not been confirmed
The Giants have not announced the nature or severity of Dart's injury, whether he will play Sunday, or a projected absence. Any statement beyond that would be a projection, not reporting.
The team also noted other injuries from Monday: Brian Burns suffered a low ankle sprain, Andrew Thomas did not finish because of a groin injury, and Malik Nabers returned after a shoulder injury. Those items should not be folded into Dart's status without their own official updates.
FourthWire analysis: why the next update matters
An ongoing evaluation is not a depth-chart decision. It means the reliable next signal is the Giants' status report, not a speculative timetable. If Dart cannot prepare normally, Winston's practice share and the Giants' protection plan become the immediate football questions; neither is settled by Monday's result.
The clean Week 3 checklist is simple:
- Watch for an official diagnosis or game-status designation.
- Separate practice participation from a final availability decision.
- Treat Winston's role as the contingency until New York says otherwise.
FourthWire will update this report when the Giants issue a confirmed decision.
